I'm Emma Oaksford, an individual, relationship and parenting counsellor based in Weymouth.
I have worked as an individual and relationship counsellor with Relate for more than eight years and have also coordinated Relate's Reducing Parental Conflict programme and Choose 2 Change programme for perpetrators of domestic abuse.
Before working with Relate, I trained with the National Childbirth Trust, where I was introduced to the person-centred approach to counselling.
Since then, I have continued to develop my training, including Rewind Therapy for trauma and PTSD, Single Session Therapy, Attachment and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), menopause-related counselling, infant loss, adoption-related work and other specialist areas.
I am a registered member of the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists (NCIP), hold an advanced DBS and ICO certificate, and work within relevant professional ethical frameworks.
My approach is integrative, drawing on person-centred, attachment, systemic and psychodynamic perspectives. This means that rather than following one fixed approach, I can adapt our work to your circumstances, needs and goals.
